Black SpaceTime Ruminations is a zine that prompts reflection on Black people thriving in the future. Each prompt is paired with an original visual and an accompanying reflection worksheet called "Signals for Black Thriving". Volume 1 is available for purchase now and will ship towards the end of Sept 2022. Click below to see the prompts and art inside our first Zine, Volume 1.

As noted above, each original prompt in this is paired with an original afrofuturism visual I've illustrated in the past four years (2019 - 2022) and an accompanying original reflection worksheet called "Signals for Black Thriving" based on my work with signals from the practice of strategic foresight.

What's a zine? Well Creative Independent says that "zine-making remains a cornerstone for marginalized voices disseminating information and publishing creative work about things they love". I've been making them since elementary school, even though I didn't know they were called zines. I just liked making self-drawn books about Ninja Turtles, that my teachers kept confiscating:).

The art featured in Volume 1 includes illustrations from 3 of my series: New Monument Ave: made in 2019 (based on my experiences growing up in Richmond, VA, home of the monuments of the Confederacy), Afrofuture Academy / Dark Speculation: made from 2020 - 2021, and Planetary: made from 2021 - 2022.
