About GraffitiVersal

"Graffiti" is contextual, based on the location, the culture, the artist's lens into the world - here it represents the uniqueness we all bring to a community, an organization, or even a street. "Versal" comes from Universal, and represents the fact that a place or space can both honor the uniqueness of its people while uniting folks with collectively designed universal values.

Lead Facilitator - Alvin Schexnider

I’m Alvin Schexnider (he/him). I am an Afrofuturist, designer, strategist, and mixed media artist. I live on the occupied land of the Council of the Three Fires: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatami nations (Chicago area).  I'm a southern Black dude with direct roots in Louisiana and Virginia, genealogy that we suspect goes back to Nigeria and/or Ghana pre the Atlantic slave trade, and Indigenous ancestry that we understand may lead to the Choctaw in Arkansas. A hybrid professional, I use my creative and operational skills to help institutions become more effective, just, citizen-centered, and innovative. In total, I hold 15 years of experience and leadership across design, strategy, equity, and business operations in the government, non-profit, & for-profit spaces.
